POWER IN THE BLOOD
The Eyes of Tlaloc
Power in the Blood is a collaborative project between three distinct entities of the ATX experimental scene - Ernestina Forbis of How I Quit Crack, Chris Cones of Skullcaster and Hunter Shaw of Dakota Hogback. The sound of PITB is a hypnotic synthesis of technology and spirituality. Ancient rhythms and melodies are conjured through a contemporary electronic soundscape to create utterly singular compositions. Their first single "The Eyes of Tlaloc" contains elements of dark ambient, juke and gospel combined with dense, dreamy jungle atmospherics. The title is a reference to the Aztec god of water, whose eyes were commonly depicted as two serpents intertwined in an infinite loop. Tlaloc's devotees would wear the flayed skins of sacrificed children for 20 days before offering them to the god during the festival of Tozoztontli, which took place deep within the caves where he was thought to dwell.

POWER IN THE BLOOD
KVNTRL
The second PITB offering is even richer than the first. The track unfolds over 17 minutes like a drug setting in. Ms. Forbis' vocals are more present in the mix, upping the church vibe, which is complimented by deep, distortion-smothered drum and bass rhythms. Slurred acid-house keys and dubbed out sci-fi atmospherics ebb and flow over the ever-changing rhythmic foundation rendering the listener blissed and transfixxxed. This track was featured as the score for a live performance by S&M group Control at StomachPoop Vol. 1.

DAKOTA HOGBACK
Blood Dilemma (EP)
Blood Dilemma is a sonic psychodrama about cellular mutation and hypothetical cell-death terrorism. Recorded in a transitional period after the never-released "The More I See You" album, Blood Dilemma showcases a more refined version of Dakota Hogback's sinister dark electronic pastiche. The featured use of field recordings lends itself to the EP's narrative quality, producing a through-line dialog of familiarity between aesthetically disparate tracks. Less harsh and more hi-fi than previous Hogback outings, Blood Dilemma is nevertheless a challenging, cold, macabre - and ultimately rewarding - slab of heavy electronics.

ASKELA
.||.
(co-release with Repentance Products)
Nasty, nasty shit. Misanthropic trash-fi power electronics brutality. Nihilistic, sputtering junk-synths and abusive contact-mic fits duke it out behind vocalist FK's venomous tirades. The chaos of nature, not made for you.

ASKELA
X-I-MMXI
(co-release with Repentance Products)
ASKELA in ritual mode, raw and unfiltered. Hateful invocations welcoming the doomsday era. The rhythmic and atmospheric interplay between DT and HS builds an evil industrial soundscape for FK to unleash her sickened, outraged vocal attack. Uncompromising, insular, devastating.
